Believe it or not the battle of West Coast vs. East Coast is just fought on the stage amongst competing rappers.  Of course, it’s doubtful that the competitions amongst web designers will ever cause bloodshed, knock on wood.  It is clear that there is a difference between websites designed by companies on either side of the coast.  Chicago Web Design styles tend to incorporate more sleek, crisp and clear images where as California styled web designing tends to incorporate more earthy colors and construes more of the personality of a company.   It is odd how subtle differences can be recognized dependent upon which side of the US you hail.  This is not to say that one is better than the other, but it adds to the diversity and flavor of the work being offered by companies within the same line of business.  Just think if you are from the west coast and decide to expand your business you can be sure your needs are met properly as each company will know what their coast requires to get your point across.
